In the late 90s, we took the first steps to set up an energy company in Galicia. The foundation of Reganosa allowed the development of a Galician gas system, the installation of 1,200 MW of power in combined cycle thermal power plants and the transformation of the processes of the main industries within the autonomous community.
In 2007 we began to operate with our first infrastructures; the Mugardos terminal and the gas pipeline network. Since November of that year we have made a decisive contribution towards ensuring the security of the supply to the Spanish gas system, which has become more robust and flexible with the introduction of our infrastructures.
We are currently authorised and designated as Transmission System Operators (TSO) by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism of Spain, following a certification procedure approved by the National Markets and Competition Commission and the European Commission. This means that we are up to the same standards as any other gas transmission system operator within the European Union. Since July 2014 we have been a member of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG).
CREATION OF AN LNG HUB
Studies for the creation of an LNG hub in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula began in 2013 within the framework of the TEN-T programme of the European Commission. This project reflects the determination of the company to ensure that new sectors — in this case, sea transport — may make use of the economic and environmental advantages of natural gas. In order to adapt to the growing logistic needs, we will be expanding our infrastructures. Every necessary infrastructure has been included in the Ten Year Network Development Plan 2015 of the European Union.
We are an organisation that rises to the challenges posed by day-to-day management with the ability to plan and develop projects in a global market and meet the new requirements of the sector. Our highly qualified, deeply committed staff make our work possible.
