SOJITZ AND REGANOSA TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY SECTOR

Sojitz Corporation and Reganosa Servicios will collaborate in the international sector in fields such as liquified natural gas (LNG). This is outlined in a memorandum of understan- ding (MoU) signed by Masakazu Hashimoto, Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer of the Energy & Social Infrastructure Division at Sojitz, and Emilio Bruquetas, Chief Executive Officer of Reganosa.

The agreement will promote the search for areas of collaboration and the development of opportunities that are identified, both in the fields of gas infrastructure and renewable fuels as well as gas-to-power projects, smart grids and cryogenics. The geographical area that the joint effort will cover will be across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin-America.

Both parties have great hopes for the alliance, as it combines the strength of a powerful global corporation with the knowledge and readiness to design made-to-measure solutions in the gas sector. Furthermore, it strengthens the relationship of Sojitz with Reganosa, of which it is a significant shareholder.

With a capital of ¥160,339,000,000, Sojitz is engaged in a wide range of businesses at an international level, including the purchasing, selling, importing, and exporting of goods, product manufacturing, the provision of services, and the coordination and financing of projects in Japan and the rest of the world. They operate in a broad range of sectors, such as energy, social infrastructure, aerospace, automobiles, chemicals, mining, and agri-food, among others. In terms of Energy & Social Infrastructure Division, its main business activi- ties are developing and operating renewable energies (solar, wind, geothermal and biomass power generation etc), independent power plants (IPPs) and LNG liquefaction plants/recei- ving terminals, LNG marketing/trading and offering nuclear fuel cycle services in related businesses.

Reganosa is a Spanish energy group that works on the development and management of na- tural gas infrastructure, in accordance with the principles of safety, efficiency and flexibility. It is certified as a Transmission System Operator (TSO) at European level. It is the owner and operator of a natural gas pipeline network and the Mugardos LNG terminal, in Spain, and manages a regasification plant in Malta. It also participates in energy projects at a global level, providing technical knowledge and financial capacity, covering the entire lifecycle of natural gas assets.
