REGANOSA REORGANIZES TO CONSOLIDATE ITS GROWTH AND BOOST GREEN TRANSITION PROJECTS

Roberto Tojeiro takes over the company’s presidency and Rodrigo Díaz becomes general manager

The group’s parent company takes full control of the main companies under its umbrella, in a transaction that reinforces its Galician nature, reflects the shareholders’ commitment to the future and provides greater flexibility of action

With the double objective of consolidating its sustained growth and boosting the ecological transition projects in its portfolio, Reganosa has just closed a corporate reorganization operation. On the one hand, the parent company of the energy group (Reganosa Holdco) takes full control over the main companies under its umbrella, by acquiring the percentage of Regasificadora del Noroeste S. A. that did not yet belong to it: 15% owned by the Japanese company Sojitz. In this way, it reaches 100% ownership of the capital, as it already did in Reganosa Servicios and Reganosa Asset Investments. On the other hand, Roberto Tojeiro Rodríguez and Rodrigo Díaz Ibarra take over the management of the company, replacing Carlos Collantes and Emilio Bruquetas, the former president and general manager, respectively.

This operation reinforces the Galician nature of Reganosa, reflects the commitment of its shareholders to the future of the group and gives it greater capacity for action. Reganosa’s shareholders are the Xunta de Galicia (28.60 %), the Gadisa Group (59.64 %) and Sonatrach (11.76 %). The Galician nature of the corporation now reaches its highest historical level thanks to the fact that the Xunta de Galicia and the Gadisa Group, with their joint efforts and actions, have made successive acquisitions of shares from other partners: in 2010 from Endesa (21 %) and Banco Pastor (5 %), in 2016 from Gas Natural (21 %) and in 2023 from Sojitz (15 %).

The latest of these acquisitions comes after Reganosa recently completed the purchase from Enagás of a quarter of the Gijón gas plant and the sale of its gas pipeline backbone. The first of these two moves generates coordination advantages between the LNG terminals in Galicia and Asturias, thus improving the efficiency of both and their contribution to security of supply. At the same time, the sale of the transport network will allow the Galician multinational to produce and market renewable energy and fuels, as it is no longer affected by the rule on the segregation of activities. All this culminates a stage that favors the beginning of the next one.

Reganosa Holdco also owns 100 % of Reganosa Servicios, which in turn owns Reganosa Malta, Reganosa Ghana, Reganosa Italia and Reganosa Deutschland, and 100 % of Reganosa Asset Investments, which owns H2Pole, among others. It also has a 25 % stake in the company Musel Energy Hub.

Roberto Tojeiro and Rodrigo Díaz will continue the group’s growth and diversification project. Their skills, together with those of the team of professionals and the support of the company’s shareholders, will be essential for the company to consolidate its position as a global benchmark in energy infrastructure management, while at the same time materializing its transition projects to contribute to the achievement of a green, inclusive and digital economy. It is no coincidence that the group promotes key initiatives for the security of supply, the competitiveness and sustainability of the industry, the increase of energy sovereignty and the decarbonization of the economy.

Among these programs, the construction of the first large renewable hydrogen plant in Galicia, in As Pontes de García Rodríguez (A Coruña), stands out. Officially declared the first strategic industrial project of the autonomous community, this infrastructure is part of a larger and comprehensive action that Reganosa, together with EDPR, devised with the aim of turning Ferrolterra into a capital of green energy, an initiative that also includes energy storage with pumping and plans for renewable generation.

Likewise, the company shares with Repsol and Naturgy plans for circularity that include weaving a Galician network of biomethane and organic fertilizer production plants from surplus slurry and other waste. With these same partners it is processing in Meirama -as As Pontes just transition zone- a clean hydrogen generation terminal of up to 200 megawatts of power.

Linked to the project from the beginning

These initiatives will now continue to move forward under new corporate management. On the one hand, Roberto Tojeiro assumes the presidency of a company whose operation is in no way alien to him, as he was already part of its board of directors and its executive committee, and has been linked to the project since its inception, more than 25 years ago, accompanying his father, a key promoter of the creation and implementation of the company. In fact, when the Galician Government awarded him the Castelao Medal in 2011, it emphasized: “He was one of the main promoters of a key project for the Galician economy such as Reganosa”. Born in As Pontes in 1961, he graduated in Economics and Business Administration at ICADE, is president and CEO of the Gadisa Group -in which the Reganosa Group is integrated-, and is part of the governing bodies of leading companies in various sectors: transport, forestry, agrifood, services, food distribution, energy, chemical, biotechnology...

He will team up with Rodrigo Díaz (A Coruña, 1978), an industrial engineer with a master’s degree in Business Administration and Management. He also knows Reganosa to perfection, due to his long experience in various functions since joining the group in 2012. In July 2014 he was appointed Development Director, a position he held until December 2022, when he added Operations to his competencies. He also participates on the boards of the holding company’s four international subsidiaries and on the board of Musel Energy Hub.

Roberto Tojeiro and Rodrigo Díaz take over from the former Chairman, Carlos Collantes, and CEO, Emilio Bruquetas. The first one is retiring after an important period as president of the company, while the latter is taking on new professional challenges. Carlos Collantes (A Coruña, 1954) had acceded to the position in June 2019 and Emilio Bruquetas (Santiago, 1974) had done the same in March 2012, after 11 years as Director of Administration and Control, among other positions. Their contribution has been fundamental in advancing the internationalization, growth, business expansion and positioning of the company in the sector.
