Reganosa´s terminal in Ferrol´s Port received today the ship Sestao Knutsen, with 138 000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG). This is the first shipment of fuel that comes to Spain from United States, and the second in Europe.

The new route open between Spain and the United States with the Sestao Knutsen´s arrival shows Ferrol Port´s Atlantic and energy vocation, and the change in the energy sector after the large US natural gas reserves exploitation. Ferrol is called to play an important role in the increasing flow of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that will come to Europe from North America.

The Sestao Knutsen comes from the Sabine Pass liquefaction terminal (Louisiana), in operation since February 2016 managed by Cheniere Energy.

Cheniere estimates that the United States will become the third largest LNG supplier in 2020 with a production capacity of 60 million tons per year. Spain will be one of the main recipients of US fuel because is the European country with the best regasification network. The Atlantic orientation of Ferrol makes Reganosa´s terminal the ideal place to receive that flow.

In Ferrol´s Port are also Navantia shipyards, Europe´s leading reparation and revision of gas carrier ships. Navantia and Reganosa, with Gas Natural, have an agreement to share their skills and serve together vessels requiring gassing upcool down operations and reparation.
